I honestly believe her best book so far!!!!!!!!!

My favorite book so far! So if you think this is like wreck this journal book it isn't. This book first gives you instructions on how to get the most out if this book. you can of course put your name in it so the imaginary world of(you) in this book you are going to tell a little about yourself. I love it because it is so different from her other books this book is more about drawing and writing stories. I would recommend for 11+ I love it because it had crafts journal entries as well as drawing and coloring, and Keri smith wouldn't be Keri if she didn't have you cut something out so yes you will be cutting out things but other then that If you want this book to look nice don't worry you don't have to wreck it ;) I love to read and write so I definitely recommend to anyone who loves creative writing and anyone who really wants to do something with art as well. There are prompts such as make your own logo. It sounds boring but honestly she did a lot of different art and making each part of her book look appealing in this book not one page really looks the same. I love the size of the book it's big so you you can write a lot and draw and let the kid out once again!!!!

If you're not sure why you want this, buy it. If you're thinking "worldbuilding," think about it.

I worldbuild as a hobby. A hobby I've been doing for nearly fifteen years.

I've got three copies of this book. My first try was worldbuilding without a point, and that's not how my mind works. My second try was with a world I'd done a lot of work on already, and that's not what this book is for.

My third try was a vague concept. This book has worked beautifully for brainstorming things for it.

It's obviously made for beginners- so any beginners reading this, please try it!

You don't have to be Tolkien to make a wonderful world, and this book will give you that nudge. If you have a favorite TV show, if you have a favorite color, this book will shine a light on that and help you use it to make, as the title says, the imaginary world of you.

For more practiced worldbuilders: This is a collection of prompts, and a place to write in answers to those prompts. It feels good in my hand, and it's something I can comfortably use to spend an hour (I've timed it) flipping back and forth through pages and jotting down notes. And then it feels good in my hand when I flip through it looking for that thing-I-wrote. The index is useless for that. That's good. It makes me browse through the scattered sentence fragments, and reminds me of old ideas whenever I look through it.

But going back to beginners:

I'm the creative type. There's someone I know who says "I couldn't," about creativity. This is the book I want to shove down her throat while screaming "yes you could, just look here!"

Just look here.

Just take this book, a pen, and go in and do everything wrong. It'll end up good.

Got this for my god daughters 11th birthday and she loves it. Its more writing than drawing but a lot of activities to keep anyone busy and opent he mind to the world of writing. I love it as does she.

Matthew P. Martyniuk is an illustrator and science educator specializing in Mesozoic birds and avian evolution. He has been drawing prehistoric flora and fauna since he first held a pencil, and became fascinated with the dinosaur/bird transition after discovering a copy of Gregory S. Paul’s Predatory Dinosaurs of the World at his local library. He is a founding member of “Wikiproject Dinosaurs”, an initiative to generate and curate scientifically precise content for the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. His illustrations and diagrams have appeared in a variety of scientific journals, books, news articles, and television programs, including the Journal of Zoology, Wired, and the BBC. Chapters provide suggestions to develop habits that will lead to successful full-time writing, with tips like reading trade journals on a regular basis and clipping articles from magazines and newspapers to jumpstart research. The summary of provided is a list of helpful magazines, web sites, and organizations and a descriptive sample of standard formats for manuscript submission. Damn! Why didn't I write this FIRST?

Many 'how-to-get-published' books are vague in the concept of writing, but strong on the proposal and submittal of manuscripts. Marc McCutcheon makes his book stand out with specifics for getting your writing noticed, published, and sold. His writing style is casual and humorous, yet professional. I found it to be easy to read, inspiring, and factual. He puts in print what I've been thinking for years as I browsed through the latest Thousands-of-Reasons-to-Make-Maccaroni-type titles: I could've written that...I'm not even a PhD and I could've done that, and so-on.
McCutcheon's tips on writing are very concise and motivating, with a fresh delivery of facts, not rehashing. The book also contains a thorough section of resources; from finding an expert on your nonfiction topic of choice, to a glossary of publishing terms for newbies. You'll find examples of query letters McCutcheon used himself to sell his books, as well as sample contracts with translations from legalese into normal language.
He lists several success stories of everyday people who sold blockbusters. Common obstacles are addressed such as not having a degree (he is a high-school dropout himself), whether your idea is promotable, contract negotiation, and how to research. You are shown that with the right tools and hard work, anyone can do it.
Once believing I might be able to write a non-fiction book and get it published, I now KNOW it. This is a must-read.

Great information, complete direction

The common conception about writing as a career is that it is difficult to get into and produces many "starving" artists. While this may be true in many situations, Marc McCutcheon argues convincingly that it is not necessarily the case when it comes to nonfiction writing. According to the author over 50,000 new books are published each year, but only about 3,500 of them are fiction. As a result, most of the competition is in the fiction area. The nonfiction area is by far the easiest one in which to become published.
The author relates how even a beginning writer can learn to write nonfiction and start making a living as a writer much faster than commonly believed. The book is filled with the necessary details of not only writing a great nonfiction work but also how to handle contract negotiations, why you need (or don't need) an agent, writing proposals, marketing and just about any other subject that the writer may need to know.
Throughout the book, McCutcheon encourages the new writer and points out that many top selling titles were written by ordinary people without any special writing skills or training. A book that should be on the bookshelf of all writers, I can't recommend it highly enough.

If you are serious about non-fiction- BUY THIS BOOK!

I had an idea buzzing around for a non-fiction book, I wound up buying "Damn! Why Didn't I Write That?" as the title grabbed my interest and I needed more information on writing proposals.

I stayed up all night reading this engaging book. The next day I began hashing my proposal out, following the wisdom and guidance found in the book. Six months later and I've just been offered a contract from McGraw Hill! I think that speaks volumes!

This book will inspire you! Marc McCutcheon offers all the tools, motivation, and information needed to get started. It's no mystery that you have to add the "ideas",the writing talent, and the perserverance, but the rest of what you need, will be found in the pages of "Damn! Why Didn't I Write That?"

An updated version of the absolutely BEST boat systems maintenance book, bar none! All sections have been updated, but the electrical portion has been extensively revised. This alone makes the purchase of this new edition worth the cost. There is not another book that comes close to the depth covered in this book. (I have just finished a complete refit of my sailboat and I nearly wore out my copy of the previous version of the book because I referenced it so frequently.) I highly recommend this book for anyone who really wants to understand how to properly design, modify, maintain, or repair the various systems on their boat.

if you own a boat , this is a necessary book to have onboard

Excellent update to the previous version. He is the most knowledgeable person I have ever read on fixing my boat. Even though I am not mechanical he gives me enough information that allows me to try to diagnose any problems, but most importantly enables me to see if the mechanics that come out to my boat know what they are talking about.

A book for all seasons

Lord Byron tapped into the woman 's desire market by understanding clearly that settling into marriage, women tend to become, in the long run, if not in the short one, sexually frustrated, for desire always die in marriage. Lord Byron gives us the insight to go after women, especially the married ones .That is the great merit of that book. This book is for both married and single men.
