I highly recommend this book

I highly recommend this book. I have taken some video courses on Visual Basic, and I have learned some things from them, but this book really feels in the gaps. I like the structure of the book with the reading on the left side and the code examples and summary details on the right side. Anyone who is new to programming should consider this book.

Review of Murach’s Visual Basic 2015

Murach’s Visual Basic 2015 is well written and exceptionally easy to follow. The unique paired page format facilitates the learning process by presenting detailed explanations on the left hand page with code samples and key guidelines on the right hand page. There are also programming exercises at the end of each chapter to test your knowledge.
The book starts out by providing an overview of the .Net Framework and Visual Studio, including new features, and progresses into designing, coding, debugging, testing and deploying a Windows Forms application. It thoroughly covers working with the different data types, control structures, procedures and functions, event handlers, exceptions and validation of data. The book also includes (3) sections containing a handful of chapters devoted to Database Programming, Object Oriented programing concepts, and Interfaces and Generics. Also included are instructions for downloading supplemental files as well as installing Visual Studio 2015.
As an experienced programmer, I found the chapters on Object Oriented programming to be very beneficial.
Murach’s Visual Basic 2015 is an excellent book and I have no reservations in recommending it to programmers on any level. I feel that the paired page format is particularly suited to those learning a new language but I also feel that the book would serve just as equally as a valuable reference tool for more experienced programmers.
I own number of books published by Murach, and in my opinion they consistently offer a superior product at an affordable price. You can't go wrong with Murach.

Getting to be the only series I look for anymore when I need a technical reference they cover.

It's gotten to the point now where I FIRST check for a title by Murach's before I get a reference book, and I have been in IT for going on 25 years. I am also not a shill.
This latest title I purchased to beef up my skills going from VBA to VB . NET. It is a life saver. I think if I had to go from 0 to VB .NET, I would like to see it in action, and some random online videos fulfill that need. Very well done.
I just ordered the SQL Server 2012 Programming book to go with this, even though I have worked with SQL for 15 years. These are generally excellent. Just looking around my office, I see Murach's books on JavaScript, ASP.NET, and HTML5. I'm sure I have more at home.
