About the Author
Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father's paintings of historic English battles which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father's office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom.

Sadly, Adam does not have his own Ice Dragon or Ghost Panther. But he really wishes he did!

More battles for Tom and Elenna as they have to defeat Sting a scorpion man and free Arcta the mountain giant from a dungeon.

This book is set in the dark realm which is more violent and nasty than the first series. I am not giving it five stars because it mostly depends on strength and fighting rather than the wit and crafts or first aid seen in previous books. However, this is the last of the dark realm tales, so it is bound to be very dangerous.

Suitable for young readers of six upwards, with illustrations; better if you've read the earlier books but each of these is a separate part of the adventure.

About the Author

Joseph P. Forgas is Scientia Professor of Psychology at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He received his D.Phil. degree from the University of Oxford, and a D.Sc degree also from Oxford. His research investigates affective influences on social cognition, motivation and behavior. He has published 26 books and over 200 journal articles and book chapters. He received the Order of Australia in 2012, as well as the APS’s Distinguished Scientific contribution Award, the Humboldt Research Prize, and is Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, the Association for Psychological Science, Society of Personality and Social Psychology and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Eddie Harmon-Jones is Professor of Psychology at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. His research focuses on emotions and motivations, their implications for social and cognitive processes, and their underlying neural circuits. He has published over 150 articles and book chapters and four books. He received the Award for Distinguished Early Career Contribution to Psychophysiology from the Society for Psychophysiological Research (2002), and the Career Trajectory Award from the Society of Experimental Social Psychology (2012). He is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for Experimental Social Psychology, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.

I highly recommend this book

I highly recommend this book. I have taken some video courses on Visual Basic, and I have learned some things from them, but this book really feels in the gaps. I like the structure of the book with the reading on the left side and the code examples and summary details on the right side. Anyone who is new to programming should consider this book.

Review of Murach’s Visual Basic 2015

Murach’s Visual Basic 2015 is well written and exceptionally easy to follow. The unique paired page format facilitates the learning process by presenting detailed explanations on the left hand page with code samples and key guidelines on the right hand page. There are also programming exercises at the end of each chapter to test your knowledge.

The book starts out by providing an overview of the .Net Framework and Visual Studio, including new features, and progresses into designing, coding, debugging, testing and deploying a Windows Forms application. It thoroughly covers working with the different data types, control structures, procedures and functions, event handlers, exceptions and validation of data. The book also includes (3) sections containing a handful of chapters devoted to Database Programming, Object Oriented programing concepts, and Interfaces and Generics. Also included are instructions for downloading supplemental files as well as installing Visual Studio 2015.

As an experienced programmer, I found the chapters on Object Oriented programming to be very beneficial.

Murach’s Visual Basic 2015 is an excellent book and I have no reservations in recommending it to programmers on any level. I feel that the paired page format is particularly suited to those learning a new language but I also feel that the book would serve just as equally as a valuable reference tool for more experienced programmers.

I own number of books published by Murach, and in my opinion they consistently offer a superior product at an affordable price. You can't go wrong with Murach.

Getting to be the only series I look for anymore when I need a technical reference they cover.

It's gotten to the point now where I FIRST check for a title by Murach's before I get a reference book, and I have been in IT for going on 25 years. I am also not a shill.
This latest title I purchased to beef up my skills going from VBA to VB . NET. It is a life saver. I think if I had to go from 0 to VB .NET, I would like to see it in action, and some random online videos fulfill that need. Very well done.
I just ordered the SQL Server 2012 Programming book to go with this, even though I have worked with SQL for 15 years. These are generally excellent. Just looking around my office, I see Murach's books on JavaScript, ASP.NET, and HTML5. I'm sure I have more at home.

This book is an anthology of articles by specialists, each one of whom elaborates on the biological properties of an element and its compounds. Calcium, phosphorus, sodium and chloride, magnesium, potassium, zinc, copper, iron, manganese, cobalt, chromium, molybdenum, nickel, boron, lithium, lead, selenium, iodine, flourine, silicon, vanadium, arsenic, etc., are covered. The anti-depressive properties of lithium are discussed, as are the insulin-helping properties of chromium.

One may be amazed to learn that small amounts of otherwise-toxic metals are useful to the human body. Lead in tiny amounts is essential, and tiny amounts of arsenic may also be essential.

The object of this book is to investigate the history of the great Iranian province which formed the eastern portion of the Persian Empire, and which,
after the Macedonian invasion, became an independent Greek kingdom. The valiant Greeks who ruled the country were afterwards driven over the Hindu-Kush, where they maintained themselves for nearly a century longer, finally succumbing to the tribes from the north which had originally displaced them. Thus it will be seen that the history of Bactria falls naturally into four divisions. Passing over the mass of legend which surrounds the earliest period, centred chiefly round the figure of Zarathustra Spitama, we find ourselves on more solid ground when we come to
deal with Bactria as a satrapy of the Persian Empire.
After the overthrow of Persia by Alexander we enter upon the second phase in the history of the country — its subjugation and settlement by the Macedonians.
The third period begins with the revolt of Diodotus in 250 b.c, when Bactria assumes the role of an independent Greek kingdom, extending its sway not only
over Sogdiana to the north, but over a great portion of the modern Afghanistan and the Panjab. The closing chapter of the history of the Bactrian Greeks
commences with their evacuation of the country north of the Hindu-Kush, when they made Sagala their capital, and ends with their final persession by the Kushan monarchs.

This is an old book republished and reminds me of a textbook. Writing is out of date and needs much better maps to follow. I found out what i wanted to know but be prepared that this is not a "fun read".

An objective view of the life-afterlife border

If you would like listen to the experiences of 25 million people who came close to the border of life, clean from the autdor's own feelings, you will be pleased with every page of this research by Gallup. Gallup neatly classifies similarities in these accounts and helps you form your own view or compare it with your own experiences. This is a book about near death and out-of-body experiences, that you do not have to ask yourself the common question "is this fact or fiction", as you read through other people's experiences. I found it most valuable and interesting to read.

THE GALLUP POLL LOOKS AT BELIEF IN LIFE AFTER DEATH, AND NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES

Famous pollster George Gallup Jr. wrote in the Introduction to this 1982 book, "Perhaps the most provocative question of all time is, 'Does a life exist beyond death?' This is the basic question that has highlighted the spiritual speculations of mankind since the dawn of history... Because of the pressing nature of this topic, I decided several years ago to turn the full resources of the Gallup Poll toward an exploration of the afterlife. For about a year and a half, from early 1980 until September 1981, our organization conducted a series of national surveys probing the attitudes and beliefs that Americans eighteen and older hold about immortality... this series of polls... and other studies we've conducted represent the most comprehensive national survey on beliefs about and experiences with the afterlife and near-death encounters that has ever been undertaken." (Pg. 1-2)

He adds, "The results of all this research don't by any means constitute what might be considered proof of immortality or the afterlife. But of course our purpose hasn't been to provide such proof. Rather, our focus has been upon gathering information in as objective a way as possible, and then letting that information speak for itself." (Pg. 3)

He states, "Our surveys have also shown that nearly one-third of all Americans---or about 47 million people---have had what they call a religious or mystical experience. Of this group, about 15 million report an otherworldly feeling of union with a divine being. They describe such things as special commounications from deceased people or divine beings, visions of unusual lights, and out-of-body experiences." (Pg. 17)

He observes, "we've asked national audiences ... 'Do you think there is a Heaven...' A consistent seven out of ten people have responded 'yes.'" (Pg. 58) He adds, "the intensity of belief in heaven increases as personal religious experience increases. An overwhelming 86 percent of those with a deep religious experience say they believe in heaven, while a more modest 64 percent of those without such an experience believe." (Pg. 59) He also notes that belief in Hell/eternal damnation has slowly declined: from 58% in 1952, to 54% in 1965, to 53% in 1980. "These figures are considerably lower than the consistent seven out of ten who said they believed in heaven in those years." (Pg. 74)

He also recounts, "evangelist Billy Graham at one point seems to have left open the possibility that there may be some justification for regarding near-death experiences as a kind of window on the afterlife." (Pg. 159)

Though more than 30 years old, the results of this survey are still interesting for anyone studying American attitudes to religious issues.

About the Author
"Jean-Baptiste Poquelin Moliere (1622-73), the French actor-manager and dramatist, was one of the theatre's greatest comic classics. Inspired by traditions of French farce and the 'commedia dell'arte', he courted controversy with his satiric commentaries on the society of his time and on eternal human foibles, but was saved by the patronage of the 'Sun King' Louis XIV. Born in Manchester in 1959, Ranjit Bolt was educated at Perse School and at Balliol College, Oxford. He worked as an investment analyst and advisor for eight years, before concentrating on theatre translation from the end of 1990. Ranjit Bolt's acclaimed translations for the theatre, many of which are published by Oberon Books, include works by Moliere, Seneca, Sophocles, Corneille, Beaumarchais, Brecht, Goldoni and Zorilla."
