Great Part 2, but wish it was the end:-)

Really loved part 2. Enjoyed The couples until Reem got hurt. I hope he's OK. Like dag!!! Did he have to get shot like 10 times. Talk about gruesome. Leek needs to be tortured for that. Please let Reem be OK. Please no long term effects or paralysis. Just com and Sadie nursing him to health will do:-). I love him and Sadie. Masika deserves all the karma coming her way. I hope Anika is OK and doesn't lose the baby. She has been through enough. Jamal has already raped her. Please don't let it continue. Jamal is truly the devil and deserves the worst death. I'm still trying to figure put how he knew it was a set up. I hope Marquise has nothing to do with that. If so, he's so foul and deserves a slow death. Its funny how he got there after everything went down with Reem. That didn't see right. Anxious for part 3 and payback. I would give this 5 stars, but I'm tired of the long drawn out series. A nice long part 2 is fine. I'm so tired of most of these urban fiction series where its not necessary and then starts to lose the formula that drew you originally. Besides that, I love Miss Jenesqua's writing style. It keeps you engaged.

Change is good

So book one had me hot. I didn't want Anika to have anything to do with Malik ever again, but this book changed that. I'm glad Anika didn't take his sorry butt back immediately, she made him work for it. Also glad Malik changed and it look like the start of a beautiful, mature and loving relationship was blossoming. However, y'all know that stuff don't last long. Jamal is psycho. Leek is a problem and Mariska, that chick is just Looney and in denial. Book 3 should be intense, hopefully.

Jamal needs to be more focused on his wife than Anika. Masika is still dumb. Why is she still trying to put a man before her child when the man clearly doesn't want her. I can't wait for Jamal, Leek and Masika get theirs. Blaze you need to save your baby.

provides a brand new perspective on the thing we
call the authentic self.

In an elemental way, Accad defines the soul which
unfolds as the blueprint of life. The soul gives
meaning to life. It is the center of our values,
inner strength, will, basis of comparison and vision
for the future.

The author explains that there are a number of chances
each of us has for radical change. These changes can
evolve during adolescence, at midlife or again
in retirement.

Accad explains the role of the ego. The ego is present
to protect the soul. The sense of the self is not
logical but more in the nature of intuitive. The
ego forms beliefs, a self image and a sense of personal
worth or esteem. The ego protects the true identity
and can be restructured during times of radical change.
i.e. a great depression or a renaissance

The author challenges us all to hear the call to a

Be Your Authentic Self

This book truly inspired me! If you are looking to become your most authentic self then you will love this book.

She teaches that the quest for identity is first deeply pondered in adolescence. The "soul" of a teen or young adult bursting with creative desire attempts to break free from parental and societal "ego" structures that feel confining. If the answers to the questions are not clear or the soul's determination not strong enough, the young person resigns to conforming to established social norms and conditioned cultural and family expectations or rebels against them. The ego takes charge - "Go to college, get a good job, get married, have kids," and so on or "No way am I doing that". When this happens, the soul's quest to be free goes underground, often to reemerge in midlife. At midlife, the conflict between the long entrenched ego and the freedom starved soul often manifests as a "midlife crisis".

Ms. Accad described me perfectly, I had continuous, "oh that is so me" throughout the book and so many "ah ha" moments. The hair stood up on my neck as I marked many passages. I loved all of her stories that illustrated her compassionate teachings on learning how to become your true self. Her own her personal stories were quite moving.

I will continue to refer to The Call of the Soul for a long time. It's a keeper.

Revolutionary view of the ego

I am in a study group on this book. Looking at my review last November, I want to update it.

This book is a revolutionary view of the ego. I have read many help books and they all say "get rid of the ego!" I have learned from Aila that my ego is the protector of the young soul. The ego is developed in childhood as the protector of the young soul. I don't need to be rid of the ego; my ego needs simply to learn new ways to love and protect my soul. You can't get rid of the ego! It is a normal and natural part of you. Asking yourself to be rid of the ego is like asking to be rid of your foot or hair. It just can't be done. I love my ego because she is devoted to me. And I am not giving her up!

My first review: I love this author. she has a very clear voice and takes on a complex topic and makes it simple. she describes the ego and soul as partners in a love affair. she blesses the ego as an essential part of our being. that is a first in my experience, and i am grateful for that perspective as i have tried to be rid of my ego unsuccessfully in the past. now i can just be friends with my ego. this is an excellent book.

Great Book!

The wealth of information in this book is truly impressive! It is a great book for anyone working with mid-range clay and glazes. I've included a short video of leafing through the book so you can get a general sense of the books format (text and images).

The book includes a wide variety of glazes. It is organized well with dozens of charts that group similar glazes together so you can easily see not only the appearance of the glazes but also the chemicals included in the glaze.

I believe this book is best summed up by John Britt's own words from page 7 of the book. "This book is designed to help the beginner through advanced student overcome the confusion (and perhaps fear) and to help make sense of mid-range glazes. Although it also contains hundreds of recipes, it will go beyond them to explain the principles behind the glazes. By comparing and contrasting recipes within a type and learning the way glazes work, you'll see how potters create variations within a type. This gives you a sense of freedom and allows you to create an infinite number of your own recipes."

Beautiful and Informative, Excellent Reference Book

Received the book today. Purchased it pre-publication so I was quite eager to get it. For those familiar with John's previous book on high-fire glazes, you will find the format familiar. It is laid out with general information on glazes, preparation, application and firing (oxidation and reduction), and testing. Then an overview of many types of glazes is given, with hundreds of photographs and recipes. The photos alone are inspirational and really demonstrate the wide range of outcomes available at these mid-range temperatures.

I had spent a bunch of years working in the cone 10 range and after reading John's High-Fire book, I switched from many of my old standards to one's I found in his book. I am similarly anxious to find some improvements on cone 6 glazes I have been working with lately.

This book is really great in that it can be read at many different levels. It is pretty enough to be left on a coffee table, or perhaps, better, used as a reference for recipes, or a technical read on understanding what is chemically happening to assist in developing and altering glazes to one's own needs.

I wanted to share these impressions and I am certain more in-depth reviews will follow. I'll get back to reading and enjoying my new book.

Met all my expectations. Great book.

If you loved his amazing cone 10 glaze book,, you will love this one. It's not just the hundreds of cone 4-7 Oxidation and Reduction glaze recipes of every type and color, and great photos, but there are also firing schedules, technical help, problem solving, and so much more. This book should be priced a lot higher than this. It's going to be standard for many years.

It's a book for every level and if you ever thought oxidation glazes were dull and uninteresting - get this book and check out the pots - some amazing work being done at these temperatures. The timing of this book is great for me, on a personal level since age and circumstances make it impossible for me to have a large cone 10-12 soda kiln any more; but a quick perusal of the book revealed many treasures, even an oxidation pot that looks like it was soda fired, using washes. So now I'll end this review and dig deeper in this work. I'm very excited about this book. Thanks John for another amazing book!

About the Author
Frances Sizer, M.S., RD, FADA, is certified as a charter Fellow of the American Dietetic Association. She is also a founding member and vice president of Nutrition and Health Associates, a Florida-based information and resource center that maintains an online bibliographic database tracking system that conducts research in more than 1,000 topic areas of nutrition. In addition to the best-selling NUTRITION: CONCEPTS AND CONTROVERSIES, Sizer was a primary author of the first ever instructional and animated NUTRITION INTERACTIVE CD-ROM (Cengage Wadsworth). Her previous publications include NUTRITION CLINICS, a monograph series for health professionals, and the college text THE FITNESS TRIAD: MOTIVATION, TRAINING, AND NUTRITION. In addition to writing, enjoying her family, and schooling her horse in dressage, Sizer is also an active board member of ECHO, a local hunger and homelessness relief organization in her community. Sizer received her B.S. and M.S. in nutrition from Florida State University.

Ellie Whitney taught biology at both Florida State University and Florida A&M University. An avid writer, she published numerous articles on environmental matters, and coauthored almost a dozen college textbooks on nutrition, health, and related topics. Now retired, Dr. Whitney focuses her efforts on climate change, volunteering full-time for the nonpartisan Citizens Climate Lobby. She earned her BA in English at Harvard and her PhD in Biology at Washington University.

Get the text, not ebook

Next time I would buy the text so at least there would be some sell-back value. Hard to read on Kindle as pages didn't fit well and I had to constantly zoom in and out. If you need the interactive nutrition program to figure out a diet plan, get the text as it is included, otherwise you will need to buy that access code separately and it will end up costing you the same as the hardcover.

I am so glad to have received this book. I have seen the prior editions and searched for the best text and I really wanted access to the most current information. The reading is interesting and the discussions allow me to apply the information instead of just reading about it.

Easy to read, great price.

I rented this book for a nutrition class I was taking in college. The price was affordable and it arrived fast. Upon arriving the book was in near perfect condition with few signs of use. The book very informative and I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn about proper nutrition, even if you aren't taking a class on it.
